Mary Elder, LCSW

An experienced therapist, I offer personalized and effective treatment of the various forms of anxiety. I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy to help people who suffer from panic attacks, social anxiety, phobias, OCD, stress and trauma. My treatment strategies are equally beneficial for those in stressful work, school and/or social situations, who suffer from fear of public speaking, test and performance anxiety or shyness. When indicated, telephone counseling may complement traditional therapy.

I appeared on TV in a demonstration of an in-vivo exposure treatment of a person with agoraphobia. In addition, I lecture to other professionals on cognitive-behavior therapy of anxiety disorders.

In my many years of experience as a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I have developed individualized treatment strategies for problems with anxiety and depression. I specialize in the treatment of panic attacks; anxiety and phobias. These include fear of flying, social phobia and performance anxiety; Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder; Post-Traumatic Stress Dirsorder as well as various forms of depression.

My approach integrates cognitive-behavioral strategies, in-vivo exposure, response prevention, relaxation, EMDR and other techniques, as indicated. Telephone counseling offers an important adjunct to face-to-face therapy.
